Eve already has a PvE server, its called Empire space 0.5 and above. i have been playing for 12 months now and my wife has been playing for 8 months. She has never engaged in or been subjected to any PvP situation and I have only engaged in PvP when I choose to go look for it. Eve works as it is and IMHO the other 90% of the potential playerbase can keep to their other MMOs cos I joined Eve to get away from that type of playerbase.

Originally by: Dazney Okay.. I'm just going to get to the point here. Forget about the game EVE itself for a moment and think marketing. Eve is a unique game, and is AT THE MOMENT the only game of its kind but, how long did it take after the realease of Everquest for there to be multiple games like it? Games with pvp and pve... How long will it take for another company to realease a game similar to Eve that gives players the option of playing on a pvp or pve server? I'm only suggesting CCP do something to grab that player base before someone else does, because it WILL happen, and when they start losing customers because of it they will wish they had done something about it while they had the money to do it.
Any Eve replica game that spreads its resources across multiple servers will never be as good as Eve because CCP is able to focus all of their resources towards making their ONE server better.
Take the latest expansion for example, CCP introduced a lot of new stuff into the game and we were subjected to a few weeks of bugs and gameplay disruptions. Another MMO that I played who had multiple shards/servers, brought out an expansion that included many new things and the game was unplayable for at least 2 months, with very little customer support. Im sure there are a few players here who remember building their new custom house on the new land and couldnt enter their shiny new house cos the fraggin doors didnt work. In the end we all got a shiny little pressie to comemorate the total fiasco.
Marketingwise CCP will be the ones standing when all the other cheap wannabe copies fall to the wayside, as long as they stay true to their original ideals and not sell out to grab a few extra accounts.
